A History Rooted in Helping

Ability Matters was born out of a heartfelt request from parents who needed more personalized and high-quality services for their children with disabilities. The journey began when a group of concerned parents approached Dr. Kristyn Butler, someone they knew for her deep commitment and understanding of the needs of children with disabilities. They asked her to start a high-end agency that could provide the specialized care and services their children needed.

Inspired by the trust these parents placed in her, Kristyn began building the foundation of what would eventually become Ability Matters right at her kitchen table. It was here, in the heart of her home, that she sketched out the vision and mission of the organization, focusing on offering tailored, high-quality services that emphasized inclusion, dignity and the empowerment of individuals with disabilities.

From these humble beginnings in 2014, Ability Matters quickly grew, fueled by a deep passion and unwavering dedication to improving the lives of children and adults. Today, these high-quality services stand as a testament to the shared vision of Kristyn, the parents, and a strong, dedicated team. Working together to fulfill the community’s need for a service provider that truly understands and meets the diverse needs of individuals with disabilities, Ability Matters continues to thrive, always remembering its roots and simple, but powerful beginnings.
