Health and Wellness Activities

Jan. 26, 2022

Our pie chart helps us focus on the areas of balanced living, but sometimes it can be hard to think of community activities for each area over a lifetime.  It is important to try a lot of activities to find the one that works the best for the specific individuals you serve. However, even when you find an activity that works, the interest and availability of the activity will likely not last a lifetime.  It is a good idea to continue to try new activities periodically while keeping up with established ones.  Cost is also a concern, as most individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities will have a limited income.  Our position is that a Medicaid paid provider is covered under ADA and should not be charged admission to stay with the individual they serve at community venues.  However, it is always best to call the venue before going to ensure you have the proof of status desired by the location (ie staff ID).   In this blog, we will focus on specific activities that we have found successful in central Ohio with the hope that others outside of central Ohio will use these activities as a springboard to find activities in their neighborhood.
